Description: Participants will learn how to research, evaluate, and select the appropriate fastening systems for cold-formed steel installation using the most current American Iron & Steel Standards.

Learning Objectives: After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the tools required in cold formed steel construction and how they differ from those used for wood construction.
  • Be comfortable applying the guidelines outlined in the AISI standards for cold-formed steel framing.
  • Familiarize themselves with the resources available for finding the right tool for the job.

How Taught: The CES facilitator utilizes a PowerPoint presentation of actual on site details of construction with CFS. Handouts of the presentation will be provided. This is an interactive session and encourages feedback from the attendee.

 

A/V Needs: Projector and screen for PowerPoint presentation. Steel Framing Alliance/ CES facilitator will supply the laptop.

Target Audience: Architects, engineers, builders, contractors, building code officials and other design and construction professionals. Attendees must have some construction related experience to gain full benefit of this program.

Facilitator Qualifications: The Steel Framing Alliance CFS facilitators have been trained on CFS guidelines and presentation skills. All are experts in the use of CFS in construction.
